Making this quick and easy mask is simple. You’ll only need a few ingredients and about 30 minutes from start to finished glowing skin.
I love an easy mask. I don’t like spending half the day prepping ingredients and mixtures for a DIY mask. In that case I’d just use a store-bought one!
For this easy DIY face mask with honey we’ll be using two ingreidents. Honey, and lemon essential oil. I’m going to share some other things below that you can add to your mask if you have specific skin concerns you want to address!
Why would I use honey in a face mask?
Honey is amazing for skin. Manuka honey or raw honey is best. It’s antimicrobial, antibacterial, and it’s got great anti-inflammatory properties.
It’s also a humectant, that means it helps your skin retain and absorb moisture even after it’s wiped away! Honey also helps increase circulation when it’s applied to the skin which gives you a natural and pretty much instant glow!
We’re using the lemon essential oil to help boost the cleansing effect of the honey and deter any breakouts!
What else can I add to my DIY face mask?
You can add a variety of things to your mask in order to get different benefits. I’ll share a few of my favorites below. You’ll only need to add about a tablespoon of any of these to the mixture for your mask so you won’t need a lot!
Tumeric is amazing for skin. It’s anti-inflammatory and nice for helping to ease breakout prone skin. Tumeric also works to help even skin tone.
Cinnamon can be added…just like in this blackhead clearing mask! It’s great for cleaning out pores and helping to kill off bacteria!
Aloe Vera can be added for an extra boost for skin in terms of moisture. It helps to lock in skins natural moisture and it can calm skin as well. Use some aloe vera if you are fighting with sensitive skin or have a sunburn!
Yogurt I usually use Greek yogurt, plain and non-sweetened obviously, when I need a little extra glow. Yogurt can help brighten skin and it makes for a very creamy mask application process!

Olive Oil can be added if you need a little extra moisture. It’s great for very dry skin but I usually avoid it since I already have pretty oily skin!
Avocado or Banana can both be added for hydrating and nourishing skin! You can add one or both to this super easy DIY face mask with honey.
Matcha powder can be added for an anti inflammatory effect. If you have problem skin this can be a real life safe! Add in a bit of coconut oil to help!
How to make a DIY face mask with honey:
Mix together 1 tablespoon of raw or Manuka honey with 2 drops of lemon essential oil.
Add in 1 tablespoon of any of the ingredients listed above if you like, they’re not necessary though. If you are adding more than one, cut back to 1/2 tablespoon so you don’t end up with a ton of leftover mask. This one doesn’t store well!
Mix well until everything is combined and smooth.

Apply with a brush to the face and neck if you like. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and then wipe away with a warm washcloth.
Be sure to avoid direct sun exposure for 24-48 hours after use because lemon essential oil is photosensitive. Use an SPF and protect skin until you know how you’ll react!
